Chakra means “wheel” in Sanskrit and refers to swirling centres of energy in the body that reflect our overall emotional and physical well-being.
Physically, each of the 7 chakras is associated with a specific area of the body and the glands and organs in that area. The Heart Chakra, for example, is associated with the Thymus gland and working to clear it will enhance the function of your immune system. Each chakra is also the centre of different emotional experiences we will encounter throughout life. The Root Chakra, for example, is associated with feelings of security or lack of security in our family units while the Crown Chakra is connected to experiences of transcendence and spirituality. Chakras also have corresponding colours, sounds, and scents that resonate with their energy and working with them can heal imbalances and blockages throughout your body's chakra system that may be causing negative symptoms. Chakras can be stimulated and aligned through a variety of techniques including meditation, yoga, aromatherapy, and the use of crystals.
